I am a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering  and Resilient Infrastructure and Disaster Response Center (RIDER) at Florida State University (FSU). Before joining FSU, I did a postdoctoral fellowship at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from Nov, 2023 to Jan, 2025. I completed my Ph.D. at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Civil and Environmental Engineering. I received my master’s degree in water engineering and management from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, and my bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Agriculture (UAF), Pakistan. I worked on various research and consultancy projects in different countries, including the USA, Denmark, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Pakistan.

Research Interests

My research focuses on coastal and urban flooding, with an emphasis on compound flood events driven by extreme rainfall, storm surge, and sea level rise under changing climate conditions. I develop and apply both physics-based and data-driven modeling frameworks to support sustainable urban hydrology and flood management. This includes optimizing green-grey infrastructure systems and evaluating nature-based and engineered solutions for stormwater control and resilience. My work also addresses flood risk assessment and the vulnerability of critical infrastructure, aiming to quantify flood-induced damage and inform adaptive, climate-resilient planning in coastal and low-lying regions.

My long-term goal is to advance flood resilience by integrating a wide range of data sources and modeling approaches to better understand and manage risks in urban and coastal environments. This includes the use of both physics-based and data-driven modeling tools to simulate complex hydrologic and hydraulic processes under current and future climate conditions. By combining high-resolution climate data, land use projections, and infrastructure layouts, I aim to evaluate and optimize green and grey infrastructure solutions that mitigate flood hazards effectively. Through the development of flexible, multi-scale modeling frameworks, my work supports proactive, science-informed strategies to prevent future flood disasters and promote sustainable, climate-resilient infrastructure planning.
